Summertime

24th June 2014

What amazing weather we have been having. Everyone is enjoying the sunshine. Guests, Elaine and Richard rode with me up onto the Brown Clee Hill this morning, leaving the livery yard at 7.00am. It was warm and sunny and no flies to bother the horses. Fabulous views and happy horses and riders - see the photo on the main blog. Meal House is booked for most weekends during the summer but due to a cancellation the much sought after August bank holiday week is now back on the market. Grab it while you can!

Springtime

29th April 2014

The warm sunshine (between the showers) is turning every thing green or yellow (where the oil seed rape is growing). From the top of the Brown Clee Hill the patchwork of fields is becoming ever more interesting as farmers plant their spring crops and the trees and hedge rows burst into life. We have nearly finished lambing with the last few still in the building but the rest are out on the fields. We had a very busy two days drenching, injecting and checking all the ewes and lambs but we had extra help in the form of old friends Nick and Jane from Nottingham. It's been a long time since Nick did any farming but he was brilliant and between us, as they say 'many hands make light work' So a big 'Thank you' to them.

Blog - the latest from Tugford Farm Accommodation in Shropshire...

The children also had lots of fun in the Jacuzzi Hot Tub occasionally letting their parents in. Have a look at some of the smiling faces with Widget and Tipsy on the main blog page. Farming news: We have fields full of ewes and 'getting larger everyday' lambs. The rain which was so desperately needed arrived and has given everything a boost so the grass is now growing well. Talking to neighbouring farmers when we were herding their two cows, which had escaped onto our top field, the general feeling was that the spring crops will definitely have been affected by the lack of rain at the crucial time of planting but that's farming for you so the ever changing challenges keep coming.
