Tugford Farm Blog

20th January 2017

The sun is shining and although frosty it is beautiful. Snowdrops have been spotted and spring is in the air. The days are getting longer and it's easily light until 5pm now. Wyndhams cousins at the other farm in Tugford have started lambing. Our sheep are still in the fields as they are not due to start until mid March but it's great to see the lambs if only inside the warm sheds at the moment. Now is the time to take advantage of low rates during the quiet season. You'll even get extra time in the Jacuzzi Hot Tub so send us an email and get your restful weekend organised.

Log Burners and Frosts

11th October 2016

Autumn has arrived. We've had our first frost and so have lit our log burner in the evenings. Meal House too have lit theirs so our guests are cosy and warm in front of a lovely glowing fire. We still have horses and their owners visiting as it's a great time to ride up onto the Brown Clee Hill and enjoy the colours of this time of year. The Welsh Hills in the distance blue and dusky. It's also a great time to get in the Jacuzzi day or night. You really get the best feeling sinking into the heat and watching the steam rise when all around you is cold. At night the lights make it even more special. Read on in the main blog to here what work has been going on at Tugford Farm -

Our Milling Wheat is almost ready and although neighbouring farmers have started their barley and oil seed rape no ones wheat is quite fit to start on so instead 'himself outdoors' got up early this morning to meet and set free on the slopes of the Brown Clee hill lots and lots of Pheasants for the winter shooting season. These will roam freely and grow into fine birds who will test the guns and provide some good sport this winter and for our two guns dogs too Anna and her new side kick Polly. Read on in the blog to hear what else is going on at Tugford Farm.

Summer time and the living is easy! Well if you're on holiday here it is at the moment. What amazing weather. We need a 'Cold Tub' not a 'Hot Tub' We have Swifts, Swallows and House Martins swooping over our heads early morning and evening. It's magical to watch as they scream into the tight places above the stables and cottages. We are busy making Hay (while the sun shines) and so everywhere smells of summer. We have some late availability so if you fancy a last minute break we always up for a barter. Give us a call!
