Spring

27th February 2017

Despite the snow on the top of The Brown Clee hill this moorning Spring is knocking on the door. I've spotted primroses and the mile long verge of snowdrops down the road is changing to daffodils as I type. Quite a sight to see and planted many decades ago by a farm worker to a neighbouring farm to ours. His legacy is remembered every year as they multiply naturally becoming a carpet of white and then yellow. Read on for more farm updates in the blog -

Snowdrops

20th January 2017

The sun is shining and although frosty it is beautiful. Snowdrops have been spotted and spring is in the air. The days are getting longer and it's easily light until 5pm now. Wyndhams cousins at the other farm in Tugford have started lambing. Our sheep are still in the fields as they are not due to start until mid March but it's great to see the lambs if only inside the warm sheds at the moment. Now is the time to take advantage of low rates during the quiet season. You'll even get extra time in the Jacuzzi Hot Tub so send us an email and get your restful weekend organised.

Log Burners and Frosts

11th October 2016

Autumn has arrived. We've had our first frost and so have lit our log burner in the evenings. Meal House too have lit theirs so our guests are cosy and warm in front of a lovely glowing fire. We still have horses and their owners visiting as it's a great time to ride up onto the Brown Clee Hill and enjoy the colours of this time of year. The Welsh Hills in the distance blue and dusky. It's also a great time to get in the Jacuzzi day or night. You really get the best feeling sinking into the heat and watching the steam rise when all around you is cold. At night the lights make it even more special. Read on in the main blog to here what work has been going on at Tugford Farm -

Summer to Autumn

9th August 2016

The combine is sitting posed for the start of harvest 2016. Our Milling Wheat is almost ready and although neighbouring farmers have started their barley and oil seed rape no ones wheat is quite fit to start on so instead 'himself outdoors' got up early this morning to meet and set free on the slopes of the Brown Clee hill lots and lots of Pheasants for the winter shooting season. These will roam freely and grow into fine birds who will test the guns and provide some good sport this winter and for our two guns dogs too Anna and her new side kick Polly. Read on in the blog to hear what else is going on at Tugford Farm.

Blog - the latest from Tugford Farm Accommodation in Shropshire...

Harvesting is over! The combine was brought home last night after a very testing end to the summer. The planting of next years crops now begins in haste before the ground gets too wet to work. The horses winter beds are down in the stables waiting for them to come in at night as soon as it drops too cold or wet and the logs are being loaded into the log shed ready for the log burner in Meal House and the farm house to keep us all warm. The Jacuzzi comes into its own during the winter months. It's the time I like to use it most. Everyone has suddenly started cooking roast dinners and puddings and the salad bowl is to be found at the back of the cupboard. We still have guests booked in with their horses enjoying the Autumnal colours and changing vista of the Brown Clee Hill and as long as you have your wellies or walking boots there's a host of fabulous walking out there. As we head towards Christmas our rates become such great value so why not grab a weekend away and curl up by that log burner in Meal House or jump in the Jacuzzi and watch the steam rise!
